Join Turg and Randy as they wrap up the Fuck Millennials discussion with the pinnacle of topics: shallowness and…
why the guys use American Gladiators to kick off the show, Randy drops a nugget of truth and wisdom in saying whoever can sustain the longest wins the rat race of life, discover the guys favorite American Gladiator events. The guys continue discussing how social media is contributing greatly to the increase of shallow behavior among the general population, how the Millennial push for more media and more information is killing confidence.
You’re collateral damage in someone’s business model
When being shallow consumes the consumer, where do we draw the line? Turg argues that vanity and self-interest is driving and thinks Millennials are the drivers of these influencing effects. Are we influenced by the pressures around us to conform to the standards we see?
How has reality TV helped to amplify the shallowness in our generation to the point where it has evolved out of control? The guys discuss how The Real World set the stage for the new generation of reality stars within the social media realm. Social media has become the new Reality TV – or Reality TV 2.0 – for a lot of people. Randy thinks that we are slowly moving away from this type of reality and may be venturing into a world where striving to be average will be the new normal.
The guys come to the revelation that maybe Millennials being perceived as shallow is a misconception and it is the advent of new marketing tactics that help perpetuate this notion. Sex sells, so might this new revelation help Millennials escape the death grip of societal judgements? Maybe not. Turg and Randy help to differentiate marketing from those who try to push their platform through vain measures.
Don’t be fooled…the advent of the average person is on the horizon (according to Randy).
That’s all for the Fuck Millennials series folks! Catch us next week as we embark upon a new journey in discussing how the guys view the search for one’s self in their Thirties.
